Johnny Greaves Inks New Monster Energy Contract to Compete for CORR Pro 2 and Pro 4 Titles in 2008

Abrams, WI (April 22, 2008) – Six time Champion and off-road driver Johnny Greaves confirmed today through his agent, Mitch Covington of The Covington Agency, that Johnny Greaves will indeed compete in the Pro-2 Class in 2008 and 2009 in addition to the Pro-4 Class in Championship Off Road Racing (CORR). The new team will be an extension of the current team “Monster Energy Potawatomi Toyota Off Road Race Team”. The team will be ready for the first race of the CORR season in April at Pomona.

Like his Pro-4 team, the Pro-2 will also be a Toyota Tundra and powered by a TRD built powerplant. Forest County Potawatomi, BF Goodrich, KMC Wheels, Kal-Guard, will fall in line as on the existing team and support the veteran driver as he seeks to win a double class championship in 2008.

According to Covington, “this has been in the making for quiet some time but the deal was complicated along the way, with the details of putting a “top level” program out there this soon. Monster Energy, Toyota and the rest of the parties are really happy to get Greaves in the popular Pro-2 class. Johnny is a proven and seasoned professional when it comes to putting a team like this together so it should come as no surprise they looked to the Johnny G team.”

Joe Parsons, Senior Motorsports Marketing Manager for Monster Energy said of the deal, “Johnny Greaves knows how to build championship teams and win titles so Monster Energy is very proud to continue our relationship with Johnny on this project. Greaves does a great job representing the brand and continuing our program of working with championship professional athletes. Johnny’s professional style is what we were looking for to promote our brand in a positive manner.”

“Monster Energy was looking to put a Pro-2 Team out there that had a chance to win and I volunteered for the job,” stated a happy Johnny Greaves from his shop in Wisconsin. “Monster Energy has been great to work with and I see this as a chance to cement our relationship further,” continued Greaves. “It’s going to cut into my motocross time, but I am really looking forward to this season.”

It has been all work and no play for the Greaves organization since this program developed. After testing in California, Greaves assembled his team of Curt, Brad and Kelly and on Easter Sunday made the decision to start from scratch on a brand new Pro-2.

“We knew that we were going to be running a Toyota power plant, so we needed to develop a chassis that would accommodate the motor and tranny combination and come in at the minimum weight,” stated Greaves. “It took us twenty-five days from starting from scratch till testing in El Cajon on April 20th.”

Johnny Greaves to Debut New Toyota Tundra Body in 14th Annual FCP Chairman’s Cup Race at Crandon

2007 FCP Chairman's Cup RaceAbrams, WI (June 20, 2007) – Johnny Greaves is gearing up for the 2007 Potawatomi Chairman’s Cup Race to be held this weekend, June 23-24, at the legendary off-road Crandon International Raceway. With a total race purse of more than $50,000 for the 15-minute "heavy metal challenge dash" between 4x4 and 2-wheel drive pickups, the 14th annual race promises to be explosive. It is the feature event at a weekend of off-road racing at Crandon’s Forest County Potawatomi Brush Run Races.

These races are always full of excitement and close fender to fender racing. Many will recall Johnny’s horrendous crash last year during the BorgWarner shootout. This is the type of action that draws thousands of race fans back to Crandon each year.

Johnny Greaves Motorsports will be debuting a brand new racing body on his number 22 Monster Energy Potawatomi Toyota Pro-4 at the Chairman’s Cup races. The new body will look more like the street version of the Toyota Tundra 4x4. Bruce Nagel and the boys at Boatec, Inc. were given the challenge to design the body to look like the Tundra while at the same time making it compatible with the heavy-duty structure required for an off-road racing machine.

Johnny is the defending 2006 Chairman’s Cup Champion sweeping all three races last year. He looks to bounce back from a disappointing weekend at Chula Vista.

The Monster Energy Potawatomi Toyota Pro-4 Team Ready to ‘Repeat in the Heat’ at Jason Baldwin Cup Round 2 – Johnny Has His Orders

Vernon, AL (May 16, 2007) – Johnny Greaves and his veteran team have headed west today to The Fairplex located in Pomona, CA, with orders from the officials at Forest County Potawatomi to take care of business.  The boys at TRD are waiting on Greaves to arrive and, once again, show all of America on national network television what happens when you put talent together with technology “Toyota style”.  Monster Energy is ready for their premier off-road driver to “unleash the beast”, as they would say.  All the excitement from the first round has had the Wisconsin-based team focused on performance as they prepared for the second trip of the season.

According to Johnny G, these races are real important to do well in for the whole sport because of the exposure it is getting in the media. “This is just a great opportunity to show the country what this [off-road racing] is all about and I want my sponsors to get the widespread recognition that they deserve when we build a team that can run out front on a national stage,” stated Greaves. “I hope all my fans will tune-in to the NBC broadcast and let’s keep the ratings high, but my focus has got to just be on the racing and the rest will take care of itself. I met with the Potawatomi this week and I got my orders loud and clear - go kick some @%&! and that is what I’m going for.”

Be sure and catch all the action from The Fairplex on NBC Sports: Sunday, May 27, 2-3 PM EST. SEE COMPLETE NBC SCHEDULE

Johnny Greaves Motorsports Announces New CORR and WSORR Team for 2007 – The Monster Energy, Potawatomi Toyota Pro-4 Team is Ready to Defend CORR Title and Take WSORR by Storm

Johnny Greaves set to drive the Monster Energy Potawatomi Toyota Tundra in the 2007 CORR and WSORR SeriesVernon, AL (March 26, 2007) - Johnny Greaves Motorsports announced today through his agent, The Covington Agency, LLC, that it has finalized a groundbreaking deal involving several key sponsors that will create a new team for the 6-time World Champion off-road racer. The team will be called “Monster Potawatomi Toyota Pro 4 Team” and is a collaboration of these three major sponsors plus BF Goodrich and several other associate sponsors that have stood with Greaves his whole career.

The G-Team preps the Pro-4 Toyota Tundra for testing in Antelope Valley, CA“It is really a great feeling for us to be able to put these guys together for another run at a championship title,” said an excited Johnny Greaves from his Wisconsin headquarters. “With having to race on both coasts, the cost kept going up and I was happy to bring on some new partners to ease the burden on Forrest County Potawatomi and Toyota. Monster Energy really stepped up and will have creative control of the team’s marketing. We all went into this arrangement with an open mind and came out with a creative deal that should work well for all the sponsors and the team’s performance, as well. We all wanted to ‘raise the bar’,” insisted Greaves.

Johnny's Number 22 Pro-4 Tundra will be wearing Fox Shox again this yearThis announcement may come as a surprise to many in the off-road community as the Forest County Potawatomi and Greaves have been tied together for 10 years. However, it was the leadership at Forest County Potawatomi that encouraged Greaves to do whatever it took to build the team that would stay on top, even bring on other major sponsors to help get the team to where Greaves wanted it.

“The council at the Forest County Potawatomi was the key to the deal,” said Mitch Covington, Greaves’ advisor on the project. “They are really progressive and forward-thinking individuals and were extremely open-minded in how we could take this team to the next level. Monster Energy wanted the best team out there and Johnny Greaves is one lucky guy to have an aggressive national motorsports marketing powerhouse like Monster Energy, an off-road racing icon like Forest County Potawatomi and the perennial automotive giant Toyota backing him. And I am really proud for the team.”

“We just all got together with the counsel at Forrest County Potawatomi and the guys at Toyota and sat down with an open mind about what it would take to put together a ‘top-shelf’ program,” stated Joe Parsons, Senior Motorsports Marketing Manager for Monster Energy and key player in the deal. “Monster is real excited to work with Johnny’s partners, the Forrest County Potawatomi, Toyota and others to bring a real professional team to CORR and WSSOR series. This team should set the standard for teams to come. We could not have put this together without the whole group working together here. We are looking forward to a great season on both sides of the country and off- track relationships as well.”

According to Covington, this deal had a lot of versions and iterations prior to becoming a final product. “It all started at a meeting at the Las Vegas Supercross last April where I met Joe Parsons while having a cold Monster in the pits prior to the race. We just got to talking about CORR and where it had the potential to go as a sport and made a deal right there for Johnny to wear a Monster logo on is helmet. After the first race in Chula Vista, Joe liked the Greaves team so well that he says, ‘I want more of this guy than just his helmet and it looks like the Potawatomi are people we want to be associated with in this sport’.”

Several factors made this deal very interesting to work out. For one, Greaves already had a strong sponsorship package in place with long-term sponsors Forest County Potawatomi, Toyota and BF Goodrich and adding another significant player would be complicated. Secondly, there was enormous speculation about the future of the CORR series and the new WSORR, which really kept everyone off-guard with rumors, new announcements and developments along the way.

“Every time we though we had this thing figured out, a new announcement or rumor would hit the street that would change our plans,” stated Greaves. “We never new for the longest time where we would be racing in 2007 and if all my existing partners would want to keep this dream alive with all the issues. I really have to thank the council at Forest County Potawatomi for having the foresight and encouraging such a deal. I really wanted to give something back to the Potawatomi after all they had done for me over the years. Hopefully this will be great for them. It’s going to be a fun team with these guys working together on and off the track.”

One thing is staying constant though: Johnny Greaves is going to the track to win races. The 6-time CORR Champion is planning on making Monster proud to be joining the team. Greaves said, “I am proud to be where we are with this team and I plan on giving my sponsors 100 percent effort to win races – as long as I focus on that it will be worth the all effort my great sponsors put into this deal.” .

Johnny Greaves Co-Hosts SPEED Channel's Speed Road Tour Challenge Show

Provided by: DirtNewz.com

Johnny Greaves Co-Host SPEED Road Tour ChallengePhoenix, AZ (April 25, 2007) - 5-Time CORR Champion, Johnny Greaves, co-hosted the SPEED Channel's 2007 Road Tour Challenge reality television show late last week in Phoenix, Arizona. The granddaddy of all motorsports racing series, NASCAR's NEXTEL Cup Series, arrived to Phoenix, Arizona and with it came the usual characters associated with the series.

The SPEED Road Tour Challenge show features four NASCAR fans that are traveling to 13 races from Daytona to Dover, competing with each other along the way for a prize package that will include an offer to join the SPEED Road Tour crew for the remainder of the NASCAR season. The participants share a motor coach -- equipped with cameras and microphones to record every turn and every pit stop along the way -- all hours of the day, seven days a week.

Each week, competitors face off against each other in weekly challenges ranging from loading the bed of the newly designed Toyota Tundra truck with chopped wood to racing side-by-side on a dirt track.

Hosted by SPEED Channel personality, Rutledge Wood, the 13-week reality television show arrived to the desert outside of Phoenix where the four contestants were introduced to Toyota's Off Road Champion, Johnny Greaves.

Johnny GSlated to race the 2007 CORR Season Opener in Lancaster, California, Greaves and his crew selected Phoenix, Arizona as the location to test their 2007 Toyota Tundra race truck. The Greaves Motorsports race caravan was enroute to Lancaster, California after the two day haul from Green Bay, Wisconsin.

"Any chance I have to participate in programs for my sponsors is exciting. Toyota is the sponsor of the SPEED Road Tour Challenge television show and they gave me the opportunity to join the crew from the SPEED Road Tour Challenge and demonstrate some off road driving tips to the contestants for their challenge this week. We ended up out in the Arizona desert where I toured the course with each of the contestants in a brand new 2007 Toyota Tundra. Afterwards, the contestants competed against each other. I then had the chance to run the course and I'm proud to say that I set the fastest time. We really enjoyed ourselves with the contestants and I can't wait to watch the show," remarked Johnny Greaves.

The show was not without drama as contestant Scott, outfitted in a Yellow Freight NASCAR jersey, talked smack about winning the event prior to the race. In fact, Scott finished in the last position and walked off in the distant desert to reflect on his performance.

The competition began at the first race of the year in Daytona, Florida. The four will compete in weekly challenges, all recorded for a prime time television show scheduled for SPEED Channel.

SPEED host Rutledge Wood joked with Johnny Greaves as the two co-hosted the show from the beautiful Arizona desert.

Johnny Greaves Completes Record Season in Chula Vista - 2006 CORR Season Wrap-Up

Johnny and Kathy Greaves are joined by his crew and the TRD team at the 2006 CORR banquet where Johnny received the Pro-4 Championship and Driver of the Year trophy.

Chula Vista, CA (October 23, 2006) – Johnny Greaves has had a fine year in 2006 CORR Racing – uh, make that a very fine season. By finishing 5th on Saturday, Johnny successfully defended his 2005 title for the Forest County Potawatomi, Toyota and BF Goodrich team and was crowned Lucas Oil CORR Series Champion for the 5th time. To cap things off, Johnny went out and dominated the field in the final CORR round on Sunday, coming from near last to first to claim his 7th win of the season and win the points battle by a comfortable margin of 28 points over Carl Renezeder.

“The boys from Toyota Motorsports/TRD, BF Goodrich, Fox Shox and my crew just really had my truck ready to race all season long,” stated a delighted Greaves after the race. “The whole council from Forest County Potawatomi showed up this weekend, as well, to pull me through and that meant a lot to Johnny celebrates with KathyKathy and me. Those folks really are like family to us. All of my sponsors this year went out of their way to make sure things were right this year and I was happy to put them on the podium to close out the season.”

While the CORR season is complete for this year, Johnny is not quiet through yet. He has accepted an invite to drive in the famed Baja 1000 coming up in November with the crew from Dirt Newz and Fox Shox. “We are happy as we can be to have Johnny Greaves coming along with us this year,” said John Marking, VP of Fox Racing Shox. “Johnny Greaves is a master at off-road racing, and besides that, he is just a whole lot of fun to have along.” See Johnny's exclusive interview on DirtNewz.com

As for the record books, Johnny Greaves now has a total of 51 CORR Series race victories since 1998 and leads the way in that category, giving him the title of the “winningest driver in off-road short-course racing”. He has won 15 times over the last two seasons – seven wins more than anyone else, including his next closest rival who has 8 victories over the same two seasons.

“I’m not ready to start counting yet,” responded Greaves when asked about the wins. “I just want to go out and be the fastest guy at the races every week and the numbers will be there. I’m a racer – that’s what I do. That is what I am.”

Greaves Back in the Saddle and Ready for Chula Vista

Abrams, WI (September 15, 2006) – Johnny Greaves announced today that his Potawatomi Toyota Tundra 4x4 is rebuilt and ready for the CORR Nissan Off Road Nationals scheduled for September 23-24 in Chula Vista, CA. Greaves tested his truck this week at Crandon International Raceway making laps just under the track record.

“I should have wrecked that truck six weeks ago,” said an excited Greaves referring to the fact that his new truck was very fast. “We are definitely ready for Chula Vista. The team has worked hard to get this truck ready.”

Greaves truck was virtually destroyed during a tremendous crash at the Borg-Warner Cup race on Labor Day weekend at Crandon. Johnny spent the night in the hospital but it did not take him long to get back behind the wheel. His team began rebuilding the truck almost immediately with a new TRD motor. He remains in first place in the Pro-4 points standing which tightened up after rounds 11 and 12 at Crandon. This will make for some exciting racing as Johnny defends his title as the 2006 CORR season winds down to four races.

Johnny's Ok after this terrible crash at CrandonAbrams, WI (September 4, 2006) – Johnny Greaves was released from the hospital earlier today and is recovering at his ranch near Green Bay, WI, following a horrendous crash that left the Crandon fans in awe on Sunday in the Borg-Warner Cup Race. While he has some bruising around his chest area, he is expected to make a full recovery by the end of the week.

“I’m feeling a little sore but I should be fine,” stated a recovering Greaves. “I am really just frustrated more than anything else right now. I was planning on winning that race and showing them what our Potawatomi Toyota could do in front of the home town crowd. I guess that will have to wait till the last two Chula Vista rounds.”

According to Mitch Covington, Johnny’s friend and member of the “Greaves Entourage”, Johnny was disappointed in the results, but he was really moved by the show of support from his friends and racing community. “He wanted me to make sure everyone knows how much he and Kathy appreciates your calls and show of support for them after this close call,” said Covington as he was leaving the hospital. “Johnny has had a lot of calls, offers of support and visits from sponsors, family and fans - and knowing Johnny he is probably already thinking about getting back on top in California in a few weeks.” The doctors are reporting no broken bones or serious internal damages.

Johnny Greaves Back on Top with a Monster Win at Crandon International Speedway!

June 24, 2006 - Crandon, WI - Johnny Greaves started the way he finished, way out front. With a huge lead from the lightning fast “holeshot at Crandon” Johnny pulled a big lead with his Potawatomi Toyota Tundra with razor-sharp performance coming out of the turns and an unusually smooth ride around the famous Crandon track in the premier Pro 4 class.

“My truck performed great today. The BF Goodrich tires and TRD motor came through for me again,” stated a delighted Johnny Greaves while on the podium. “This is Potawatomi country and I always love winning in our backyard. Curt and the crew really had the truck the way it should be for this one”, Johnny said referring to 2 time CORR mechanic of the year, Curt Greaves, Johnny’s brother and crew chief.

While Greaves did his disappearing act out front, there was plenty of exciting race battles happening behind him with Renezenner, Douglas and Leduc having epic battles throughout the race. The fast trio kept Greaves in sight for a few laps until the battle really got heated between these three and yellow flags started flying. Midway through the race a yellow flag seemed to have brought the pack a little closer to Greaves, but he turned up the flow of Sunoco race fuel and went on to win comfortably in front of the big Wisconsin crowd. The fans got to see some great racing action that CORR has become synonymous with. Renezenner, Douglas and Leduc really shared some paint today at Crandon at the delight of the crowd.

There were a lot of questions after the race from folks asking if a repeat of the 2005 championship was in the works for 2006. “I take one race at time”, stated the record breaking CORR champ with a big smile. “Its way too early to even begin talking about points and the championship. I figure my job is to win races, anything after that will take care of itself. I’m just happy about this race – tomorrow we will suit up and go at it again. I just want to give my fans, team and sponsors the best effort I can on every single lap. If I do that, things will work out just fine.”
